Old shipping containers have been converted into a new nomadic accommodation for the French hotel group AccorHotels to create a transportable concept to be used in everywhere of the world.
Designed by Paris-based designer Ora Ito, the project - called Flying Nest - was designed to present a different experience for tourists, guests or travel-lovers to create mobile and sustainable living spaces that can transported and re-assembled in any place.
The containers are situated at the foot of the slopes, providing a unique experience in the heart of nature and an exceptional view, the designers explore the new ephemeral concept of flying nest.
The ambitious idea behind the project is to offer mobile and unusual accommodation with fully equipped containers and with all the comfort of a cozy room, which does not alter the natural landscape and has a low environmental impact.
Each room, covering 12 square meter, is designed as the eco-design built from raw and natural materials. The containers include a living area, sleeping area, a private bathroom and a private terrace. The overall language of the project is achieved with high-quality of finishing by using ec-friendly wood.
In addition to access to a common living area with mountain views, visitors will have a gourmet breakfast, a ski room to keep their equipment warm until the next downhill.
Arranged like in a small wooden stand, the containers are located at the heart of one of the largest ski areas in the world, Avoriaz, the French mountain resort in the heart of the Portes du Soleil.
"The eternal, the timeless, the avant-garde, the first entirely pedestrian altitude station where Taxis are horses and sleds, labeled great achievement of the heritage of the twentieth century, is constantly reinventing itself," said the designers.
