Manifesto Market transformed into a stylish Christmas Village at the heart of Prague

Prague's new Manifesto Market has renewed itself as a stylish Christmas Village to offer a brand new holiday season experience for visitors, which opened its doors on November 22nd and will provide a new counterpart to the ordinary Christmas markets found in the city.

Dubbed as Manifesto Winter Market, Manifesto’s design team created a unique and modern Christmas experience at the marketplace with unique cozy transparent igloos, heaters and fireplaces for staying warm, communal cooking with sausage and marshmallow roasting. This, all alongside 20 stalls, special holiday lighting and upside-down Christmas trees, has created a new style of holiday magic.

Manifesto Market was envisioned and led by Martin Barry, the founder and Chairman of architecture and urbanism platform reSITE. The Manifesto Market was opened in June this year.

Located on Na Florenci Street in Prague 1, the cashless container village offers unique street food concepts from 20 chefs and purveyors such as award-winning Italian chef, Matteo de Carli, who brings years of experience from Cipriani in NYC and Dublin’s Four Seasons, or Zátiší Catering Group who owns the popular Bellevue Restaurant, among other highly reviewed gastro concepts.

Up to 100 different vendors will rotate in the existing Manifesto, which was recently nominated for the best retail experience of the year by Ogilvy. Nearly 40K people have already expressed interest in the Winter Market only one week after the event was announced on social media.

For the Christmas season, some of Manifesto’s restaurants will offer themed menus with fish, oysters and seafood specialties, including a lobster aquarium from Matteo de Carli’s Ryba je ryba. He will host a Korean and Japanese Day, truffle feast and oyster competition.

"I love Manifesto because it follows my vision of art, design, inspiration and good food in one neighborhood," said Matteo de Carli.

A Pho Bar located in three containers will be a great new addition to the market. Customers will sit inside at a stylish Pho bar where delicious Vietnamese soup and specialties will be served. Asian and Indian cuisine will be offered by Signature. Miska by Zatisi is joining the market with their Czech cuisine evergreens and sweet teeth will be pleased by Minie’s pancakes and Nostress Bakery.

Latino cuisine will have a new addition in La Areperia, on top of the Argentinian star and customer favorite Gran Fierro. Czech food hunters should taste CK Knödelrei and for the best BBQ, visitors will head to Dirty Dog.

Manifesto’s bars will focus on hot drinks, mulled wine, punch. Poctivý svařák, Cloud 9 bar and Mr Brut! will open their counters at Manifesto.

Up to 100 Czech designers and local artists, selected and co-curated by LEMARKET, will co-create a unique holiday experience over 20 days.

Elena Šulcová explains how the cooperation began: "Our traditional market at Manes attracts every year more creators than we can present. This is why we are happy to be able to offer this opportunity to more talents and brands and compose a fair Christmas market which was missing in Prague."

From dozens of designers, her picks include Alexmonhart and Contiqua selling bags and accesoires, designer dresses from One Day, natural and custom made frangrances Perfumed Prague, and Loono, an organization raising awareness on the prevention of serious illnesses.
