Inspired by the Spitfire and made in the Solent, the new Aeroboat yacht celebrates Britain's design heritage
Britain may not yet rival Monaco as a yachting destination, but the country has provided the inspiration for what could become one of the world’s most striking small yachts.
Unveiled by Hampshire-based yacht designers Claydon Reeves, Aeroboat’s exterior has been inspired by the Second World War fighter plane the Spitfire. Able to achieve speeds of over 50 knots, it is – like the Spitfire - powered by a version of the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine.

With designs for the 50ft yacht now released to the market, Claydon Reeves is ready to initiate construction subject to orders for the yacht being received. The designers are planning to build a limited edition of 14 Aeroboats and each will be tailored to the requirements of the client, but there will be consistencies in internal layout. The yacht’s interior is modelled on sports car design and will feature leather stitching and a wooden dashboard; a cabin with double berth and small bathroom will stand below deck.
The Aeroboat will feature carbon fibre materials and lightweight wood veneer materials sourced from around Britain, and will be built at a shipyard on the Solent. Depending on modifications made, each yacht will cost from £3 million to £3.5 million....Continue Reading
