1st prize winner: Abhijeet Karwa, Stuti Murarka, Unnati Khanna, Sreemoyee Ray, Trisha Dasgupta, Mumbai, India
Jury comments:
''The proposal reinterpret the search for divinity into a quest – a game designed by the Gods themselves to challenge us. And to make sure only the few and the worthy gain access to the mighty Council of the Gods. The graphics are intricate, while self-explanatory, and shows great creativity in interpreting the 12 Gods of Olympus into architectonic space,'' said Arne Reisegg, arq.
''The sequential scenario defining the series of challenges and the relation between mythology and gaming was considered significant about the proposed design. The architectural language was considered inspiring due to the level differences on Mount Olympus. The proposed path and its continuity within the context is quite impressive,'' said Ziya Imren, arq.
''Great way of answering the challenge!! A path to divinity construed as a game. Appealing design,'' said Francisco Freitas, arq.
''Interesting the idea of creating a path throughout the mountain where you´ll be able to achieve divinity. It might be a game! Or not! The track and the spaces, created along the journey are disposed in a way that enriches the discovering of the mountain while crossing temples. You can feel the power of the gods,'' said José Martinez, arq.
''It’s a theme park! Just like mythology,'' said Yiğit Acar, arq.
2nd prize winner: Andrei Theodor, Bucharest, Romania
Jury comments:
''The tower is a strong symbol for the journey towards the Gods, and the text explains the ascend in a poetic manor. The fact that the tower is firmly grounded on earth and ends in thin air is a great image for the distance that remains between Man and God, even after having scaled the house of the sleeping deities,'' said Arne Reisegg, arq.
''The positioning of the spatial order within the vertical composition was found quite strong that somehow juxtaposing with the mythology and its glory,'' said Ziya Imren, arq.
''Great design! This path Is conceived as an amazing journey. It is indeed architecture for gods,'' said Francisco Freitas, arq.
''The proposal assumes the god´s house as a tower, a sculpture landed on the mountain. In silence we can feel the power of the gods. Climbing the structure we can feel the presence of the different gods when we cross each floor until we reach the end of the journey - ZEUS,'' said José Martinez, arq.
''The abstract representation of each deity has a compositional finesse. The idea of representing the gods in a vertical manner is also a nice touch, which very subtly refers to our current society,'' said Yiğit Acar, arq.
3rd prize winner: Tobias Bor, Christian Slama, Kassel, Germany
Jury comments:
''The proposal brings the journey back to a more human scale – both in physical space and on the spiritual plane. The 12 Gods are interpreted into a set of architectonic pavilions for spiritual contemplation toward a route to divine enlightenment,'' said Arne Reisegg, arq.
''The design treatment of the replacing gods temples into human scaled spaces with their scenarios was considered sensible. Re-arraging the spaces within this idea and overall naive representation was totally differed from other proposals. Series of experiences have been designed for people, by creating frame of visions, atmospheres, light and shadow elements within spatial aspects,'' said Ziya Imren, arq.
''Interesting work: the transformation of a simple box shape into different spaces for different gods. Hiking Mount Olympus!,'' said Francisco Freitas, arq.
''Amazing the idea of having a walking route with several modules, all with the same size, though establishing each gods house with different drawings, distinct sets, synthetizing each god's own symbolism / image. Astonishing presentation with a minimalistic illustration and a powerful strong image,'' said José Martinez, arq.
''Each of the pavilions present clever interpretations of each god,'' said Yiğit Acar, arq.
