OMA has been commissioned by the Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation to design the Chinese Pavilion at the 56th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.

Under the theme "Other Future", the exhibition brings together Tan Dun, Liu Jiakun, Lu Yang, Wu Wenguang / Caochangdi Work Station and Wen Hui / Living Dance Studio. OMA has designed an immersive environment where the artworks are juxtaposed in a field of projections and stages, connecting the interior and exterior works.

This follows OMA's recent involvement with La Biennale di Venezia, in which Rem Koolhaas directed the 14th International Architecture Exhibition, Fundamentals, in 2014.

The exhibition was designed by OMA Asia in collaboration with curatorial advisor Kayoko Ota. The design team is led by Dongmei Yao, Wanyu He, Long Yu, and Michael Kokora. The 56th International Art Exhibition runs 9 May to 22 November 2015.
