Online exhibition of Bamiyan Cultural Centre Projects

According to the requirements for transparency inherent in the organisation of an international architectural competition under the auspices of UIA, the Unesco office in Afghanistan, which organised the Bamiyan Cultural Center competition, has published online the 1070 projects that were anonymously submitted to the jury in February 2015.

They are available for public viewing over the next three months. After that, they will be replaced with an online chronicle of the great adventure of building the winning project, authored by Argentinian architects Carlos Nahuel Recabarren, Manuel Alberto Martinez Catalan and Franco Morero.

The creation of the cultural centre is an initiative by the Afghan government to promote culture and education. The international competition process to select its design added a global architectural dimension to the project as well as insight into contemporary creativity in this area.
