‘Like my previous terraced house paintings, I wanted to paint something that everyone could relate to: nondescript, ordinary high-rise towers. I didn’t want them to be famous architecture. I thought that they were impressive – I was excited by the scale of the subject. I’m sure that if I lived in the mountains, I would paint mountains.’
