Victor J. Blue / Bloomberg-Could the Milwaukee Bucks’ new arena have a design as inspiring as the fleet and sinewy Barclays Center in Brooklyn, home of the Nets?

Amid the debates about a new downtown arena for the Milwaukee Bucks, one question remains largely untouched: Will we get great architecture?Nothing will define the project — and its impact on Milwaukee — like the design.Peter Feigin, the Bucks' new president, recently said he'd like the multipurpose arena, expected to cost between $400 million and $500 million, to look like it "embraces Wisconsin."

"The truth is, we don't need it to look like a glass spaceship in the landscape in Milwaukee, which has an unbelievably rich heritage of authentic architecture, which is just beautiful," Feigin said last month at a luncheonsponsored by the Rotary and Milwaukee Press Club.
