COBE has been announced winner of the international design competition for Køge North Station in Denmark. Besides being a traffic hub for the entire Copenhagen region, providing a much-needed boost to efficient public transport and marking the beginning of a new and much better connected Øresund region, the station will also be a distinctive landmark for the area with its 225 meter long pedestrian bridge.
Køge North Station will not only be a traffic hub for the entire Copenhagen region connecting high-speed trains, local trains and the busiest motorway in Denmark - the Køge Bay Motorway, but also a distinctive landmark in the area.
The project consists of a 225 meter long pedestrian bridge, a new train station and an associated park and ride facility. The north side of the bridge provides a stunning 180 degrees panoramic view over the landscape and traffic lines.
Padded with wooden lamellae, the inside of the bridge becomes a warm and welcoming area, while the outside has a more rough expression with perforated steel plates matching the materials of the surrounding infrastructual system.

When a new railway line to Copenhagen opens in 2018, it will not only be the first step towards far better railwayconnections to the Danish capital, but will also mark the beginning of a new and much better connected Øresund region.Køge North Station will be the only completely new station along the route - built above the busiest motorway inDenmark - the Køge Bay Motorway.
A 225 meter long pedestrian brige stretches across the traffic lines - connecting east and west.
The south facade of the bridge is closed, while the north facade is open providing a stunning 180 degrees panoramic viewover the surrounding landscape
The view can be enjoyed either standing, walking or by comfortably sitting on the built-in furniture along thesouth-facing wall
