“Roots Folly”, a multifunctional folly won the 'New Follies on Fraeylema' competition. This design contest was organized by Fraeylemaborg Estate Foundation to create ten follies, also used as an exhibition space, in the Park of the Fraeylemaborg. The ten small constructions will be built in 2015, and remain in the park, located in the north of the Netherlands, for at least five years.

MVRDV’s design creates an attractive new meeting place in the park, used as a podium, tribune, playground, exhibition room - a dynamic and social place in the middle of the forest, with the castle as décor. Both the inside and the outside of the folly will be used for a wide range of activities, artistic or educational, accessible to every generation.

All the submitted designs will be exhibited in February 2015 in Fraeylemaborg.
