CM Mimarlık has completed the interior design of the Vinero Winery combined with a Hotel in Canakkale’s Eceabat district in Gelibolu, Turkey. CM Mimarlık's interior design principle focuses on the essence of wine production by linking materiality of the interior space and layering production sections as fluid transitions in the interior.

The architectural project was developed by Tekeli-Sisa Architectural Partnership, which is one of the well-established architectural offices in Turkey. The Vinero Winery, like all other factories, meets all the necessities of its existence, in the best way possible. 

The basic design approach of the studio was to provide a design preventing any disruption of the organic process. The building, which is approximately 16, 000 square-metre, includes production and storage sections as well as service programmes such as laboratories and offices. In addition to this, there is a guesthouse with 21 rooms including service areas for food and beverage etc. and a specific spa program.

At the production section the structure (concrete) was left as plain as possible while using coating partially as needed for water resistance and for any impacts that may come from the moving modules. Raw metal structures were incorporated with rough industrial attachment details while solid wood elements being delicately handled. 

These type of wineries are most likely to become active on particularly short periods of the year and inactive for the rest of it. Various visits, tasting events and the presence of the guesthouse become the extroverted face of the facility. 

CM Mimarlık designed a lecture hall - presentation space as well as an in house lounge for these visits/ events. The common space facing the main entrance for the offices, guesthouse and winery were setup to be figuratively three-dimensional.

Including the storage and ageing sections, the design studio considered the reproduction of all materials and relations within the inclusion of the whole winery space. The guesthouse connected to the winery consists of 21 rooms differing form one another. 

The sleeping space, setup & material use differ in each of the rooms while all were designed/ programmed in relation to their attachments, services and materials. Each room, even the same scaled ones has a unique design. The conceptual design of the rooms was developed according to the material, colour and ambiance within the room.

Being 50 kilometres away from the nearest city, in the midst of vineyards the guesthouse includes a spa that acts as a specific wellness centre by using grapes, the basic raw material of the winery. Within the spa we developed fluidity between spaces by use of irrational forms.

In the overall design process of the guesthouse, the studio tried not to fall apart from the winery/production facility by the use of natural materials such as marble, wood and metal. Food and beverage areas located within the landscape provide additional catering services for the guests.

CM Mimarlık was founded by Cem Sorguç in 2001 and CM Mimarlık's recent projects include Ermish Housing in Istanbul, Alantur Stage 1 in Antalya, Turkey, and GKT 130.10 in Turkey. CM Mimarlık won WA Awards in the 19th Cycle with Adapazarı 11005.
