Techno-cult fashion designer Karld Lagerfeld has zoomed in the digital vortex in his latest fashion show at Paris’s Grand Palais, which was presented on October 4 within the scope of Paris Fashion Week.

Lagerfeld introduced Chanel's Spring-Summer 2017 collection at Chanel Data Center and used all the electric shades, laser tones, neon radiances, screen brightness and saturated pixels as a backdrop for the techno-futurist show.

Karld Lagerfeld, creative director of Chanel, is well-known for constructing the most elaborate and sci-fi sets in his fashionista style since he is a passionate advocate of digital age. Lagerfeld's collection features blinking handbags, iridescent tweeds, and fluorescent rays of color splashed on flowing dresses and caps.

Referencing to the Data Center's backdrop, in this collection, large color patches replace buttons on electric shaded tweeds, embedded LEDs with animated customised messages are taking place on LED display handbags, and all digital colours are put in the Spring-Summer 2017 collection.

Karld Lagerfeld's robo-chics were used a 'strange humanoid figure' of the show and a representation of digitalized people, which will come into our life with artificial intelligence and robots in near future. “We all depend on it,” Lagerfeld, 83, told Reuters TV after the show, referring to technology. “Imagine your life without the telephone and the next step will be artificial intelligence and robots.”

"The data centre is something of our time," said Lagerfeld in Chanel's video interview. "It's the idea of the modern woman, whatever the time, the century or the circumstances." "It's not technology in a cold way, it's intimate technology," he added. "Even if you don't like the idea, technology rules the world because it changed the world and it made many things easier."

"The robot – that is my idea of putting the most iconic jacket of the show on a creature of an unknown future that means Chanel is timeless," said Lagerfeld.

Chanel always organizes the most striking and futuristic shows by using different mediums and concepts, but in all of the show, technology is a stimulating force for both collection and Lagerfeld's message to the world. His shows change the way we think about fashion industry, design and post-digital era.
