Conference May 2, 2016 at 19h David Chipperfield with Olafur Eliasson
Following an invitation from the Pavillon de l’Arsenal, David Chipperfield and Olafur Eliasson will present the Morland project to the public on 2 May at 19:00 in Paris. The event will take place at the Pavillon de l'Arsenal.
Following a three-phase competitive process, David Chipperfield Architects Berlin and Paris-based developer Emerige, won the Call for Projects to redevelop the ‘Boulevard Morland’ site in the 4th arrondissement of Paris at the beginning of this year.
First major innovative principle open to Parisians and create a flow of traffic through a new internal street that runs through the island and directly connects the boulevard Morland and the Quai Henri IV, a real energy axis and exchanges completely transform the public from the building.
This opening is above all the choice to spend the most emblematic areas of the former administrative center for shared use. The old lobby, complete with new buildings, is redesigned as a space open to all which will house a food market with a diversified offer imagined by Terroirs d'Avenir teams (grocery, butcher, fishmonger, cheese...)
The project is also mixed from the viewpoint of its design, since it combines existing and new buildings extensions in complementarity and aesthetic particularly successful. A principle of "soft graft" initiated by David Chipperfield Architects, respectful of both the historic site and the environment, as eco-friendly. Artificial intelligence solutions integrated in the overall energy management of the new Morland will strengthen its smart-grid ready kind.
