World Architecture Festival Announces Day 1 Winners

World Architecture Festival (WAF) is the world's largest architectural event and has announced Day 1 winners in 2 categories: Completed Buildings and Future Projects.
World Architecture Festival 2015 is underway! WAF held at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore from November 4-6, 2015 this year’s festival focuses on the theme 50:50, in honor of Singapore’s upcoming 50th anniversary as an independent country.
Day one has seen hundreds of architects, designers, clients and press check in and enjoy a jam-packed programme of outstanding architecture. The first award categories have been presented, debated and announced (see the winners below), and speakers have tackled some big topics. Day one keynote was Liu Thai Ker -Singapore 50:50; RSP’s Senior Director today discussed what assumptions were made when planning the development of Singapore 50 years ago and how the city is planning robustness strategies for the next 50 year and the other keynote was Charles Jencks – On Singapore and its lessons for world architecture-Author, Critic, Sculptor and Architect Charles Jencks today discussed the fifty years of growth, transformation and experimentation in Singapore.
WAF has selected Day 1 winners in 2 different categories -Completed Buildings and Future Projects. OMA/Buro Ole Scheeren, Nikken Sekkei, and a21 studio are among the Completed Buildings category, Emre Arolat Architects, Populous and Sanjay Puri Architects are among the Future Projects category. In addition, many other world renowned industry leaders were in the seminar theatres including; Sir Peter Cook, Niall McLaughlin and David Green.
