Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with Australian Wilson Architects has won the flagship education precinct for Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. The precinct will promote a strong identity for Queensland University of Technology and position the university at the forefront of tertiary education studies in the region by creating a new teaching building for the Faculty of Education, the Oodgeroo Unit and E Learning services. 

The building connects to the existing library as well as the surrounding landscape, thus creating a seamless transition from interior to exterior campus life and making room for studying, teaching and social spaces. "Australia leads the global education sector in terms of their approach to learning. In Scandinavia, we have a strong history in this field as well, and I think that we can inspire each other and create innovative and effective learning environments by pooling our knowledge and references," says Anders Sælan, architect and partner at Henning Larsen Architects about the building and collaboration.

The project will be a model for educational precincts internationally and will set a new benchmark for contemporary and sustainable design. Extensive landscaping will create a new pedestrian hub for the campus and strong connections with the surrounding community. Wilson Architects + Henning Larsen Architects are collaborating with Australian landscape architects Taylor Cullity Lethlean on this part of the project.

Queensland University of Technology is distributed among three different campuses in and around Brisbane, Australia. It inhabits around 40.000 students and offers more than 400 courses and research programs. The new €47m educational precinct will be a part of the Kelvin Grove Campus a few km outside of Brisbane.
