Thomas Heatherwick's Garden Bridge in London is still discussed by public and architecture critics- Last piece was written by Edwin Heathcote, architecture critic of Financial Times- Edwin says that ’’We don’t need Baubles, we need boring bridges in the city’’. Heatherwick studio designed a new sculptural, fantastic, green-friendly bridge for London in 2013 and the structure regarded as the most elegant and ceremonial gateway for Londoners. This special bridge was funded through community infrastructure levies without defining any private ''sponsorhip''. The project received many critics from public, architecture community and the critics due to its overcost, green areas, funding and the basic needs of Londoners. Edwin Heathcote requestions the Garden Bridge whether it is a ''bauble' in the city or not.
Thhe purpose of a bridge is simple enough: to span a river or a ravine. And until recently the form of the most elaborate and elegant — from Brunel’s Clifton Suspension Bridge to the Sydney Harbour Bridge — was determined simply by what engineers believed to be the most effective use of the available technology.
