Project was to refurbish an existing multi purpose hall of one of the leading boys schools in Colombo Sri Lanka increasing the seating capacity converting the multi-purpose hall into a auditorium. Twenty One tiers of new seating were introduced to the vacant void of the large existing hall with an angular steel deck supported concrete slab creating a 1350 seat larger auditorium and a 400 seat capacity smaller mini hall underneath, taking advantage of the headroom available at the underside of the angular new slab. Exteriors of the building was kept as a exposed brick wall envelope with cement louver grill block fenestration bringing ample light and ventilation. Funds were raised through various projects initiated by the old boys association of the school, with students, old boys and teachers forming the cornerstones of the fund raising activities. Consultants extended their services on voluntary basis free of charge, including provision of marketing materials, brochures, posters etc necessary for raising of funds.
