AIDIASTUDIO is an architecture and design agency founded by Rolando Rodriguez-Leal and Natalia Wrzask.
Natalia and Rolando met in London in 2005 while working for Foster + Partners. In subsequent years they also collaborated with Rafael Viñoly Architects, Zaha Hadid Architects and with Ateliers Jean Nouvel which adds up to more than 25 years of experience in the best architecture studios in the world.
In 2018, Rolando and Natalia co-founded AIDIASTUDIO, an architecture and design workshop based in London and Mexico City. The studio works in multiple typologies and across scales. AIDIASTUDIO has been a special guest at the Beijing Design Week, 100% Design in London, and Gdynia Design Days. In 2018 the studio has been nominated for the Best Interior Design by the Interior Design Magazine in New York, in 2019 the studio was awarded the Rifat Chadirji Prize for their Barjeel Museum For Modern Art project as well as the 2nd Prize for their design of the Flamingo Observation Platform called The Birdwalk.in 2020 AIDIASTUDIO has won the 2nd Prize for their desert hotel proposal The Rub' al Khali Oculus.
AIDIASTUDIO is a platform of experimental design in architecture, urbanism, photography and other creative disciplines. We work across scales and typologies from interiors to masterplans and strive always for specific responses with intricate and sophisticated beauty.
The term AIDIA is born as the transliteration of the English word idea [ahy-dee-uh, ahy-deeuh] into Spanish and Polish.
Every project starts with a brainstorm of ideas but only the best one sifts through the creative process and materializes into the final product. In today’s multicultural world transliteration is a constant feature in written communication; it not only provides a means of access to a foreign script, but it also helps to marry cultural traits, deconstructing terms and expanding our own vocabularies.
In the transliteration of idea into AIDIA we also find a palindrome which is a word, phrase or number that reads the same forward or reversed. In design, palindromes can be translated into cyclical patterns or re-iterative loops. They can be simple diagrams or the source of incredible complexity.
