Studio Gang releases plans for its first rippled condo tower in Brooklyn

US architecture firm Studio Gang has released plans for a new luxury residential tower for Brooklyn, featuring a wavy facade with protruding windows to enlarge indoor spaces for residents. It will be the first project of the firm built in Brooklyn.

Dubbed as 11 Hoyt, the 51-storey tower will include over 480 apartments and 55,000-square-feet (5,109-square-metre) of indoor and outdoor amenity space. Centrally located in the heart of Brooklyn, the development borders both downtown Brooklyn and brownstone Brooklyn along Hoyt Street and Livingston Street, and will offer significant outdoor space for residents.

The new luxury condominium will be built at the site of a former car park, which is the one side of large plot. Envisioned as nature and community-focused building, a large looped-garden on the on the ground floor will be extended from one side to the other side of the building.

Studio Gang will be working with New York-based firm Hill West Architects, renowned London-based firm Michaelis Boyd Associates for interior design and New York-based Hollander Design AD100 for landscape design.

11 Hoyt will offer a broad unit mix and will be the only luxury residential development because of its size in downtown Brooklyn that features over 190 different floorplans, offering a rare opportunity for residents to own a one-of-a-kind home along with a host of luxury amenities and services at their fingertips.

Developed by Tishman Speyer, the building's units will be built from precast concrete and all residential prefabricated units will be installed on-site construction technique.

"11 Hoyt is destined to become Downtown Brooklyn’s most desirable new address. We are honored to collaborate with such a talented group of globally-minded and innovative design partners to launch our first ground up condominium offering in New York City," said Rob Speyer, CEO of Tishman Speyer.

"The combination of 11 Hoyt’s world-class design, unmatched amenity space and convenient, highly coveted location make this development truly one-of-a-kind."

Reaching at 190 meters height, the tower's windows are pushed outwards to provide an extra living space for the whole units. All units' large windows will encompass 2,4 meters height, stretched alongside the protruded concrete units. The tower is slated to launch sales in summer 2018.

Studio Gang, founded by Jeanne Gang, runs three offices in Chicago, New York and San Francisco. Studio Gang's hotly-anticipated project the American Museum Of Natural History Expansion broke ground last year. The firm's other project Solar Carve Tower, located between Manhattan’s High Line park and the Hudson River, has also topped out next to the High Line.
