For a woman born in the fifties, choosing to become an architect is the first hold up that Odile Decq took on her destiny. The second one was to manage her own office immediately after her diploma together with studying at the Politic Sciences Institute in Paris and to obtain her diploma in Urban Planning in 1979.
International recognition comes early in 1990 with the first large commission for the Banque Populaire de l’Ouest in Rennes. Awards and publications, which follow this building, emphasize the born of a new hope issued from the punk revolt, which down the dusty conventions.
Then, the Odile Decq Benoît Cornette office becomes like a tool for the future and the projects generators of desire.
To question the commission, the uses, the material, the body, the techniques, the taste, the conceived architecture has proposed a paradoxical view, both kind and severe on our world.
In that way, the A14 viaduct in Nanterre, the Economic Sciences faculty and Law Library in Nantes were built.
The Venice Biennale has recognized this atypical production in 1996.
Since that time, Odile Decq keeps her resisting attitude while taking a more radical one.
Every project, like the Contemporary Art Museum in Rome, is proposed as a joyful explosion for the senses.
