Graduated in Architecture from the University of Architecture, Construction and Geodesy in Sofia.Earned PhD Degree in Moscow Institute of Architecture in 1973.Currently works as a Senior Research Associate in Centre for Architectural Studies with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.Author of six monographs in the area of the theory and history of architecture, among them: A Biography of Sofia Historical studies, Space and Form Publishing House, Sofia, 2006; Town-planning Parallels: Bulgaria and the World – A Chronicle, Marin Drinov Academic Publishing House, Sofia, 2004; Tectonics as Theory of Form and Form-formation, Marin Drinov Academic Publishing House, Sofia, 2000 (the monograph received Best Scholarly Achievement in the Humanities awards of the Union of Architects in Bulgaria and the Union of Scholars in Bulgaria); Cultural Tourism, textbook, Space and Form Publishing House, Sofia, 2005.Author of more than 60 articles and reports published abroad and of more than 160 published in Bulgaria.Scholarly interests in the area of the theory and history of architecture and town-planning; semiotics; cultural ecology and preservation of the cultural heritage.Teaches Theory of Form Formation and Theory of Composition to students of Engineering Design in the Department of Interior and Furniture Design, University of Forestry, Sofia, Bulgaria, as well as Cultural Tourism to graduate students of Environmental Studies.http://zheleva-martins.com
