Government is planning to provide very low-cost community centres in villages in Punjab. It will be a place for community gatherings -marriages, religious functions, political get-togethers etc. Since these centres will be constructed in many villages, the budget provisions have been kept very low. As a result it was decided that only a sheltered hall -open from sides, with one stage will be provided. The other provisions will include a boundary wall, gate and a toilet block. These are just basic facilities required for small gatherings in each village. the hall has been designed in pre-engineered steel structure which will be very economical and easy to construct as compared to RCC structure. The other consideration for design was very low maintenance, rather no maintenance for the centre as there will be no funds afterwards for that.
