The Belgian North Sea coast is shaped by a heavily buildup. Very narrow and low build parcels are appearing in irregular distances. The task of this project was about to activate the potential issue of these gaps.

An architectonical intervention in an already existing stock should be taken as far as possible with caution. The project shall be neither disturbed nor appear extremely strange. It is important, that the visual character of this building-rhythm stays present. The gaps are not going to be blocked, but also in some way they have to get used. So the question is how is it possible to fill the gaps just temporary.

The Belgian North Sea coast is a favourite holiday area, that’s where the hotels are on high season overcrowded. The final idea is about producing a function, which doesn’t only serve the temporal tourists, but also useful for people who are passing through, like businessmen, who need a place to rest at short notice.
