Description

Amasra is a town which claims to be very historical place for travellers. Its rich history begins from ancient times and reaches up to now by hosting various civilizations such as Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Genoveses and Ottomans. Time interactive space is placed in the area of breakwater region by integrating the wall of breakwater into the design. Breakwater area which is even used in the ancent times as a wavebreaker, creates a natural walkway on the breakwater wall that is welcoming thousands of people every year. The building takes its form from the very spesific moment in the area. The general form is generated with the idea of capturing the inspiring moment of wave impact on breakwater wall and the jungle of big concrete cubes which are put as wavebreakers in the Ottoman period 200 years ago. The time interactive place aims to collect contextual and historical references from Amasra to create a journey for travellers to inform them about the town. The circulation of the building goes in a sequnce which is started from general to spesific experiences. (Religion: To demonstrate the richness of the type of religious architecture and the space quality that was existing in Amasra in a sequence of reinterpreting in the design. Firstly, travelers can read poems in the wall by the helping of the sunlight which changes with timevin the Greek temple representation of Apollo and the hole on the ceiling represents the healer feature of Apollo. Secondly, Roman Iakonos central martynum is represented in a space which is divided into twa as(upper part Roman period - down part is First Christians in Amasra). This space demonstrate the secret, (underground in caves) movements of first Christians in the Roman period of Amasra. (the rock formation shaped cylindirical tube permits the light(the illimunation of God) to the directly First Christians, rather than Roman period.)...(ın the board) - Food: Aims to introduce the cooking techniques and tastes of the traditional food of civilizations. - Shelter: shelter part is located in the tube which creates a route that inform people about the historical buildings, bridges by framing some of them in an axis through the real context. - Dressing experience: In this point people stop to choose some clothes of the different civilization fashion to wear and contribute to the workshops to learn the production (sewing experince is important for local history) techniques of the period in Amasra. Communication experience: Communication space not only aims to encounter and communicate people with the wave which is splashing to the huge windows, but after choosing the clothes, people start to communicate with each other in this area by feeling themselves as a part of that society thanks to their knowledge which is learned from the early steps of the jourey. Likewise this place provides a kind of bazaar type of place that people can come to trade their own staff. (trade is the main source of income especially in Genovese period.)
