Hordaland Art Centre Seeking new Director

Norway’s leading Art Centre is looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic person to further develop our strong profile; representing continuity as well as new ideas.

Application deadline 1 February 2014.

Start date 1 March 2014, or as soon as possible after this date.

Fixed term 4 years full time, with the possibility to extend for further 4 years.

After leading Hordaland Art Centre for six years, widening our networks, implementing a highly successful programme and a collaborative and productive working environment, Director Anne Szefer Karlsen ends her six-year term in 2014.

We welcome applications from those that have a relevant post graduate degree in the arts; knowledge of contemporary art practices and can demonstrate a strong curatorial practice as well as the ability to lead and develop Hordaland Art Centre in the future.

The Director has the full artistic and administrative responsibility for the Art Centre, as well as overseeing the staff (today including Coordinator/Exhibition producer, Information and public programmes, Accountant, Receptionists and Technicians). As our new Director you will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of Hordaland Art Centre, its programme and collaborations. Hordaland Art Centre is in a strong position with a highly valued profile. You will need to be able to build on the current achievements and be in a position to develop the capacity of the Art Centre. 

If you have a different first language, you must be willing to learn Norwegian. The Director will live in Bergen.
