Architects will submit proposals within 5 days for Trump’s mandatory border wall

US President Donald Trump gets a move on the construction of the US's border wall with Mexico as he promised in his election campaigns. Last week, US President Donald Trump signed two executive orders; the first one was to authorisation of the construction of the wall for the Mexican border and the second one was the blocking of federal grants to so-called sanctuary cities that don’t arrest illegal immigrants.

After an authorisation of the order, the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued a latent competition explaining the competition format to open calls for design and construction of the border wall. According to the Department issue, the design proposals, featuring several prototype wall structures, will be received in electronic format on March 6, 2017.

The competition will be realised in two phases. The first requiring vendors need to submit a concept paper of their prototype(s) by March 10, 2017 and the result in the evaluation and down select of offerors will be announced on March 20, 2017.

The Dept. of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intends on issuing a solicitation in electronic format on or about March 6, 2017 for the design and build of several prototype wall structures in the vicinity of the United States border with Mexico. The procurement will be conducted in two phases, the first requiring vendors to submit a concept paper of their prototype(s) by March 10, 2017, which will result in the evaluation and down select of offerors by March 20, 2017.  The second phase will require the down select of phase 1 offerors to submit proposals in response to the full RFP by March 24, 2017, which will include price.  Multiple awards are contemplated by mid-April for this effort.  An option for additional miles may be included in each contract award.

The construction of Mexican border wall was always controversial story from his election period and in a detailed report ordered by Donald Trump, he gives six month to construct how to build the wall. According to a source, the construction of the wall will be initially funded by money from Congress.

The $8-billion border wall will reach 1,600 kilometre but also it is expected to include increasing fees on visa applications and charging more for border crossing cards and/or taxing remittances for Mexican Americans.
