Beyonce launched scholarships to support young women in creative arts, literature and African studies

American pop singer, song writer and actress Beyonce has launched four scholarships to support young women studying in Creative Arts, Music, Literature, or African-American studies.

Titled as ''Formation Scholars'', the new scholarship program has been announced in Beyonce's website, also marking the one-year anniversary of Lemonade - the sixth solo visual album of Beyonce - released last year.

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, 35, will fund four formation scholars (college or graduate students) for the 2017-2018 academic year to encourage and support young women ''who are unfraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious and confident," as her statement notes.

The participating four colleges include Berklee College of Music, Howard University, Parsons School of Design, and Spelman College. Four scholarships will be awarded, one per college, to female incoming, current or graduate students pursuing studies in creative arts, music, literature or African-American studies.

Berklee College of Music educates music stars of the future, and Howard University is generally known with the most historically recognized black collegians in the world, while the Parsons School of Design training the most recognizable haute couture fashion designers. The Spelman, located in Atlanta, is known as America's first, and oldest, private, liberal arts historically black colleges for women raising world-class leaders, artists, and innovators across the world.

In the announcements of the Parsons School of Design and Spelman College, it has been noted that the selected scholar will receive a one-time $25,000 scholarship to further her studies, which is a pretty good amount of money for expenses in the U.S.

The application deadlines vary according to schools' admission requirements, so please see detailed procedures & deadlines in school's websites. The scholarship program was initiated by Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter and her management company Parkwood Entertainment, which was founded in Beyoncé in 2007 in Los Angeles. The company produces music productions, television specials and motion pictures & film production related to Beyonce.

The multi award-winning singer Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter is married to American rapper and businessman Jay-Z. Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter is expecting twins, announced on February 1, 2017 on her instagram account.
