Apple Park’s Steve Jobs Theater officially welcomed visitors with its first event

Apple Park's Steve Jobs Theater has officially welcomed its first visitors yesterday with a keynote speech Apple's CEO Tim Cook. The Steve Jobs Theater is one of eagerly-anticipated buildings of Foster+Partners-designed Apple Park in Cupertino, California - and with the glamorous inauguration of the venue, the tech giant company has unveiled its new products with the announcement of its new smartphone iPhone X.

The Steve Jobs Theater, located underground, will be the major point for Apple employees in the central parkland with the 1,000-seat auditorium. It's shape is made up a 20-foot-tall (6-metre) glass cylinder, 165 feet in diameter, supporting a metallic carbon-fiber roof. The Steve Jobs Theater is situated atop a hill — one of the highest points within Apple Park — overlooking meadows and the main building.

Friday parties combined with other entertainment facilities will be an irrevocable events of the structure. The Steve Jobs Theater's primary use will be composed of product-launch events, will also host seminar talks, small concerts and meetings with Cook or Ive that will be simulcast to every pod on campus.

Apple started to take its employees in April and will continue to place more than 12,000 people over six months, and construction of the buildings and parklands are still underway.

"We'll start moving into Apple Park later this year," said Cook during the Apple Event, on 12 September 2017. "The first big step is the opening of the Steve Jobs Theater."

A newly-released video by Duncan Sinfield offers a quick glimpse to the main building and the Steve Jobs Theater to show how the theatre shines at night within the trees. Besides that, you will take a closer look to the main building how its form dominates its surrounding, and its courtyard space and works on trees and other vegetation.

Sitting on a 175-acre campus, envisioned by Steve Jobs as a center for creativity and collaboration, Apple Park is transforming miles of asphalt sprawl into a haven of green space in the heart of the Santa Clara Valley. The campus’ ring-shaped, 2.8 million-square-foot main building is clad entirely in the world’s largest panels of curved glass.

''Steve’s vision for Apple stretched far beyond his time with us. He intended Apple Park to be the home of innovation for generations to come,'' said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

'The workspaces and parklands are designed to inspire our team as well as benefit the environment. We’ve achieved one of the most energy-efficient buildings in the world and the campus will run entirely on renewable energy.''

''Steve was exhilarated, and inspired, by the California landscape, by its light and its expansiveness. It was his favorite setting for thought. Apple Park captures his spirit uncannily well,'' said Laurene Powell Jobs. ''He would have flourished, as the people of Apple surely will, on this luminously designed campus.''

''Steve invested so much of his energy creating and supporting vital, creative environments. We have approached the design, engineering and making of our new campus with the same enthusiasm and design principles that characterize our products,'' said Jony Ive, Apple’s chief design officer.

Apple Park will also include a visitors center with an Apple Store and cafe open to the public, a 100,000-square-foot fitness center for Apple employees, secure research and development facilities and the Steve Jobs Theater. The parklands offer two miles of walking and running paths for employees, plus an orchard, meadow and pond within the ring’s interior grounds.

Apple Park replaces 5 million-square-feet of asphalt and concrete with grassy fields and over 9,000 native and drought-resistant trees, and is powered by 100 percent renewable energy.

In August, Apple's Chief Designer Jony Ive shared his thoughts about Apple's hotly-anticipated new headquarters in detail and the first interior images of the building were unveiled.

"It’s nice, though, isn’t it?", expressed his anxiety Jony Ive.

"There’s the same rather strange process you go through when you finish a product and you prepare to release it - it’s the same set of feelings. That feels, I don’t know, encouragingly healthy, because I would be concerned if we lost that sense of anxiety. I think that would suggest that we were not as self-critical, not as curious, not as inquisitive as we have to be to be able to be effective and do good work," added Ive.
