OMA’s former director to lead CEBRA’s Abu Dhabi office

OMA's former Director Dutch architect Geert Reitsma has been named as the new head of CEBRA's Abu Dhabi office. Geert had a leading role at OMA’s MENA offices in Dubai and Doha since 2013 and was responsible for projects such as Hamad International Airport City, Qatar Cultural and Sports Hub and Qatar University, Orbital Highway Artscape in Qatar and East Town in Cairo, Egypt.

Geert’s career spans 20 years covering commercial, academic and public sectors, with a raft of international architecture and planning experience across Europe, China and the MENA region where Geert has lived and worked since 2008.

Geert has a BSC in Architecture and a MSC in Urbanism, has lectured at Delft University of Technology, Peking University in Beijing and the American University of Sharjah.

CEBRA is a Danish architectural office founded in 2001 by the architects Mikkel Frost, Carsten Primdahl and Kolja Nielsen. Based in Aarhus in Denmark and in Abu Dhabi in the UAE, CEBRA employs a multidisciplinary international staff of 50, who all share a strong passion for architecture.

CEBRA recently competed Experimentarium in Copenhagen, which features a copper-clad helix staircase. Besides that, the firm is working on a new Visitor Centre embedded in historic landscape of Denmark.
