24H takes you to the MARS in the 13th Edition of the competition

Ideasforward presents its new 13th edition of the competition called 'Mars'. If you want to build something new on Mars, or discover new architectural concepts, discourses on the environment that you don't know well, then be ready to think about the competition.

Ideasforward wants to give young creative people from around the world the opportunity to express their views on the future of societies through their innovative and visionary proposals. The competition is an experimental platform seeking progressive ideas that reflect on emerging themes. 

The eco design, sustainable architecture, new materials, concepts and technologies are compelling issues in the societies of the future and the involvement of the whole community is imperative. In an era of globalization where communication was dominated by the technological revolution, there is the need to rethink the cities and how Man relates in a global World as well as rethink the economic, social and cultural patterns of contemporary societies. 

The young creatives and thinkers are a precious commodity that ideasforward values a lot and so the competition wants to give them voice, because its designers believe in their value and their ideas and because together you can change the world.

Aim of the Competition

24H is a space where the time limit is used to stimulate your creativity. This competition proposes give responses in 24H to the social problems, climate changes, humanitarian causes and sociologic problems of the contemporary societies. Commitment, perseverance, inspiration and hard work are the necessary bases to develop a proposal that meets the premises that will be released regularly in the brief of the competition. The competition challenges you to prove your talent in 24 hours! 

There are a period of registration on the competition, when it end, started the 24H competition! 

You have 24H to develop a proposal that responds to the program contained on a brief that you only know on the same day that start competition.

Conditions for Participating

Participation can be individual or as a group. Participants must be over 18 years old. 

In the case of groups, the leader must be over 18 years old. 

By participating in an ideasforward contest the participant accepts all the terms and conditions published on our website that define the rules for use of the company website, as well as the rules of participation therein.

Dates and Fees

Promotional registration period from – September 01 to September 10 – Fee 15€ 

Regular registration period from September 11 to October 08, 23:59 – Fee 20€ 

Late period of registration from October 09 to October 15 11:59 (London GMT + 0:00) – fee 25€ 

The competition begins at October 15 12:00 (noon) to October 16 at 12:00 (noon) (London GMT + 0:00)

Jury

Bryan Versteeg, is a conceptual design contractor with 20 years of experience in the architectural and engineering industries, specializing in the visualization of concepts in space exploration, settlement and industrialization. Bryan is the originator of the powerful visualizations that communicate the Deep Space Industries roadmap for seeking and harvesting space resources. He is also the creative mind behind all the visualizations of the Mars One mission. The images and design work from his studio Spacehabs.com are regularly featured in publications around the world in support of space exploration and settlement projects.

Heves Beseli, received her B.Arch and M.Arch degrees from the department of architecture at Middle East Technical University (METU). She received her PhD in Architecture from the same university with her dissertation titled “Reconceptualizing the Architectural Precedent: Textual Models of Reading”. Along with her partner Onur Ozkoc, she has been leading Motto Architecture since 2011. She has participated in the design and actualization of several urban-scale regeneration projects as well as small-scale boutique ventures. She is also an Assistant Professor in TED University, teaching mainly basic design and architectural communication techniques courses.

Onur Yüncü, Following his graduation from TED Ankara College, Onur Yüncü is graduated from the Middle East Technical University, Department of Architecture in 2000, from where he also received his M.Arch degree in 2002. In 2008 he received his Ph.D. from METU with the dissertation titled "Research by Design in Architectural Design Education." Between 2001 and 2007 he worked in METU Department of Architecture as a research assistant. Between 2007 and 2013 he was a part time instructor in the same institution where he was a design critic in the design studios. During this period he served as a  visiting jury member in the architectural design studios of various universities. Since 2013, he is a design studio critic at TED University Department of Architecture. Architectural education and design - action research are among his research interests. In his architectural practice parallel to his academic research, his main focus is the relationship between practical knowledge and theoretical knowledge. Besides his publications on his research areas, he has built projects based on his research and awards that he won in various architectural competitions.

Rafael González del Castillo Sancho, Zaragoza, 1988, Spain. Architect Universidad Politécnica de Madrid 2013. Máster BIM Revit 2014, MBA 2014. At present he is Editor of Designing The Future DTF Magazine an architecture magazine and also director of Fast Wood Festival. He has worked in international design and architecture studios designing scenographies, stands, shortmovies and publications. All those fields gave him the Prize "Young Brightest Mind of Spain".

Book

At the end of the competition will be published a book with all the proposals submitted in the competition.

2nd Place: € 150 + publication in website, social networks and media partners + 24H trophy + 5 sketchbooks Emílio Braga + 24H registration fee 

3rd Place: € 50 + publication in website, social networks and media partners + 24H trophy + 5 sketchbooks Emílio Braga + 24H registration fee 

7 Honorable Mentions: publication in website, social networks and media partners
