Japan Sport Council (JSC) has anonymously revealed two new schemes about Tokyo's new stadium for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Although it is not officially confirmed by international architects, it is assumed that thoses proposals are submitted by Japanese architects Kengo Kuma and Toyo Ito  because of their stylistic design approaches, which were labelled by A and B. The new plans of stadium ramained very controversial in terms of budget and time management although Hadid revised her plans and budget. But, after a short time Hadid retreated in the battle of new stadium design since Hadid and Nikken Sekkei have not been able to secure a construction company in its consortium.

In Monday, Japan Sport Council has dropped two new images of Tokyo Olympic Stadium, which refers to a more greenery space and reaching to lower budget if compared to Hadid's proposal. “Both designs use wood in their construction materials, and I think that’s an interesting aspect” of the technical proposals on the council’s website, said architect and critic Takashi Moriyama. “I think the idea of using wood in large structures may globally impact architecture,” he said, according to Japanese Times.

Moriyama noted both designs take into account the natural environment of their surroundings, which are protected by the urban development law, but in different ways. Design A features outside walls embellished with plants in multiple layers, while B is notable in that it dispenses with walls around its oval outline, which is formed by 72 wooden pillars. “Personally I like design B because it allows people to enjoy walking around the facility or gather,” Moriyama said. “I like it also because it carries over the atmosphere of the old National Stadium.”
