A Concert Project in Frankfurt by Daniel Libeskind and Alte Oper Frankfurt

The concert project initiated and commissioned by the Alte Oper Frankfurt, and designed by US architect Daniel Libeskind, reaches far beyond the conventional framework of the concert hall and leaves behind all the traditional concert rituals. ''One Day in Life'' is the name given by this big-thinking architect to his musical day, with which he challenges the audience to become active and make their way through the city, through the music, and through life itself. The concert project “One Day in Life” is made up of individual concert events at various locations in Frankfurt.

Each programme will be performed several times at each location in two-hour intervals. This allows the audience to make their way through the musical day, going from station to station. It is up to each individual how many locations and concerts they visit (minimum number of bookings: three concerts). A break of at least one hour allows plenty of time to make it to the next location. And anyone who wishes to can even turn night into day with night-time (musical) events.

“One Day in Life” is getting Frankfurt on the move: On the weekend of 21 and 22 May 2016, a musical time-window will open more than 75 times within Frankfurt’s city limits – at 18 different locations, in two-hour intervals and with a duration of 40 to 45 minutes.

''It is a journey; it is an unexpected journey to places that are so close and at the same time so far. I think that the close and the far can be brought together by an experience that only perhaps music can allow. It is the wonder of encountering something that brings the space of architecture and the time of music into a whole'' said Daniel Libeskind.

''Every city creates its own structures through dreams. The streets we walk on and the topographies we experience are simultaneously really here, but also dreamt by us'' added Libeskind.
