Sydney Architecture Festival 2015

2-5 October 2015

Sydney is on the cusp of a ‘creative boom’; growing, evolving, renewing. The 2015 Sydney Architecture Festival opens a channel between our public, our policymakers and our professionals to share expertise and experience; exploring the growing impact of our creative industries on shaping the city – its people, its culture, its buildings, and all the spaces in-between.

It's not just our centres being transformed, but suburban communities as well. From the Goods Line in Pyrmont, to the frontier far beyond Penrith, to the new hubs at Green Square and Barangaroo, Sydney has never seen such growth and creative firepower brought together.

Sydney city-makers are part of a dynamic exchange – managing tension between creative collaboration and the competition of ideas. Architecture plays a role in making this real. So the Sydney Architecture Festival aims to be a forum where we share design secrets, broadcast emerging ideas, and reveal the global networks and influences shaping our city right now, for the future.

Join the festival for #sydarchfest as we explore Sydney’s melting pot of ideas in a four-day Festival program filled with day, evening and weekend events, ticketed and free to the public. From Friday October 2 to Monday October 5, #sydarchfest presents conversations about design and architecture, short films, great food and music, children’s activities and guided tours to engage, inform, inspire and entertain.

Event curators: Leading this year’s curatorial vision are the Festival’s inaugural Event Directors Lucy Humphrey and Claire McCaughan of Archrival and John O Callaghan.

Sydney is the first truly global city to wake up to each new day. So the festival thinks that we have a role to play in setting the tone for each new day. Each day of the Festival will have a dedicated hashtag: Day 1 #DesignSecrets; Day 2 #TheGoods; Day 3 #NewCity; and Day 4 #GoGlobal.
